Biography

Wolves of Odin are an American metal band formed in 2016. The band’s name is taken from the ravenous and greedy beasts of Norse mythology. To date they have released a number of demos and a digital EP, and their music has been described as “dark, ugly metal” and “reeking of the crypt of early metal gods.” Now the Wolves of Odin are poised to release their full-length debut album. Entitled “Laid to Waste”, the album will be available worldwide through Via Nocturna Records in 2018.

A joint effort of veteran musicians Prosatanos and Infernal Vortex, Wolves of Odin draw inspiration from the early 1980’s before the genres of metal were overly defined. These musicians came of age when terms such as black metal, death metal, and speed metal described the character and feeling of music -- not the fashion worn by its creators. As such, Wolves of Odin begin their musical journey at its source. They bathe in the primordial ooze of Bathory, Hellhammer, and Venom -- then they strike their own path toward a new summit in the forest.

“Laid to Waste” by Wolves of Odin features brand new songs recorded in the style of early first-wave black metal bands such as Bathory and Mercyful Fate. A brief studio session captures the urgency of composition, and a lengthy mixing process drenches the results in majestic plate reverb. Lyrical topics are death, delusion, and sacrifice.

The second half of "Laid to Waste" is the Wolves of Odin self-titled EP, previously unavailable in print. This session is even more primitive in its approach, as only two microphones are implemented in the recording. With songs about Vikings, punks, and gods of death, Wolves of Odin sign your epitaph.
