When The Guillotine Falls

I awake in the night
Chains hold me down
Awaiting first light
Disorientation

For a moment I don't know where I am
But then it hits
I have been damned
To be released from it all
To feel the blade cut deep
When the guillotine falls

And I howl into the night
As I realize
There’s nothing to be done

No benevolent god will save me
No man will say their prayers
They reek of death
I taste their abject fear

I am but beast to be put down
For my hideous crime
I wear the sinner's crown
A gift divine

Judgment of god
Passed out by men
Kill them all
And let god sort them

The harlots, the beggars, the thieves
The children of night
The fallen without a reprieve

They have been damned
To be released from it all
