Be still my beating heart, all is quiet, fear no more
We've made it safe and sound to the annex, our new home
Once that letter came and it spelled my sister's name

We fled our dismal fate, leaving us

Scorned, lost and torn in a gruesome tale of woe
Abandoned and forlorn, silenced and alone
Sentenced to confinement, forced to hide away

Why do I complain, am I plagued by memories?
I can't feel at ease while so many lives are lost
All those friends we left in this hope-forsaken war
Will we meet again? Or will they be

De familie Frank (onze familie), de familie van Daan
En Menner Dussel, de tandarts
Alle relaties staan biizonder op scherp maar
We moeten het met elkaar zien te redden
Hier in onze eigen kleine werld

The morning begins, before the warehouse awakes, at the break of day
In silence we eat our meals, we study and pray, then chores await
At one we hear the BBC Radio say, no good news today
The hours fade, by ten we're all tucked away, goodnight

But then the horrid hellfire rains down upon us
Bombs fall, shooting strengthens
Lord hear your subjects!
Safe in his arms (Flee to father and cry in his arms)
This war with so many dead (This war, this torment and so many)

De mens heeft diep in zich een drang tot vernielen
Een drang tot doodslaan, tot vermoorden en razend zijn
