And Icarus Fell

I sought a new existence, somewhere inside
To rid myself of ego and grow
A ritual of candle wax; foolishness
And little tabs of paper with colorful illustrations
The echoes of tracers have built to form tsunamis
Crashing against the world leaving tiny fissures
Secrets of the world spill out to form a new heterodoxy
Encased, the brain swells becoming an inadequate transistor
Wisdom from outer limits of the universe ephemeral
I saw not the form I seek but something just out of my reach
My obsession grows wishing to escape all things temporal
My body the conduit for things in the ether I could leach
Ingesting a cocktail of haphazard drugs
Inducing terrible and forbidden dreams
Into darker realms my mind succumbs
Staring into vortexes, unending screams
Bodiless flights passing haunting nightmares
Crawling the nearby abyss
Horrific parasites
Skulking foreign worlds
Hidden in mists
With every foray a gleam of sublime wisdom
Shifting forms artisans could never sculpt
I wish to hold this reality in my hands
Attempts to understand only turn into unmalleable commands
The arrogance of man to try and conquer distant savage lands
Now I fear something has cracked open my skull
Slipped inside my head
A strange inhabitant, it sings to me
It's found its way to my legs
Strange geometric shapes
I now start to fear I'm now beyond
What I set out to reach
Sped past like a bullet seeking its end
I vomit cerebrospinal fluid
Like burning paper I curl and bend
I fumble forward, completely dissolved
Searching for objects with which I can reform
Clay, flesh, dirt and any filth I can find
Is this what I sought? everything left behind?
I am ejected from my body
Falling back into the horror
Clutching hands with my former temple
But the stranger has already taken over
A wooden grin breaks across his face
Peeling my fingers off one by one
Thanking me for this long deserved space
He waves me goodbye into the void I succumb
