Religious Infection

They are lost, lost in their lives, abandoned by friends, cast away
Left behind, disinherited and ruined, there appears to be no escape
Escape from the grievous reality, where all has fell apart
They yearn for facile rescue, they are now ready to convert

Collapsed into despair and gloom
For they lost what they held most dear
But they refuse to see
That the doing was their own

Deprived of their will they let
The disease to spread and corrupt their minds
And then they simply fall
Into snares that were long set

As a herd of calves with unpretentious
Spirits they roam around and await a shepherd to come

To lead the way, to show them to their barns
To feed them comforting lies and fill their weakened hearts

In deepest fear, they show who they are
And blindly follow anyone
