THE SANITY DAYS, which isn’t the real ONSLAUGHT, came this late on the bill. Sure, these guys deserve kudos for what they’ve done and, in fact, I was actually looking forward to watch this gig. I really enjoy ONSLAUGHT’s “In Search Of Sanity” 1989 third album and not to forget that Steve Grimmett is a fantastic vocalist. So, for that sake it was a good show and a great performance by these ONSLAUGHT guys.
The really good thing with THE SANITY DAYS was that they really seemed to enjoy themselves on stage, even though I was expecting Steve to actually know the lyrics. He took care of it professionally but between every line, it was a glimpse on the notes on the floor. Nothing that anyone noticed I assume, unless it was seen from the photo pit. No matter what, “In Search Of Sanity”, “Shellshock” and especially “Welcome To Dying” are fantastic songs and it was great to get the opportunity to hear them live. Also, these guys have been around for a while and absolutely know what they are doing, so from that perspective everything sounded fantastic. They seemed to have a lot of fun and that makes it fun to watch as well - I wasn’t the only one with that opinion as the garden was actually quite full with enthusiastic metalheads.
THE SANITY DAYS ended their show with two GRIM REAPER songs, also justified since this is Steve’s band. Again, it sounded fantastic and both “Rock You To Hell” and “See You In Hell” worked as real party boosters.
